General Information About Tattoos
Getting a tattoo is a big decision and an important investment. Choosing the right artist ensures the quality, appearance, and healthy execution of the tattoo you desire. Therefore, when selecting a tattoo artist, there are some important factors to consider besides the price of the tattoo.
Experience: The experience of the tattoo artist is a critical factor for the quality of the tattoo they will create. An expert tattoo artist gains experience over the years and acquires knowledge about different tattoo styles and techniques. Therefore, selecting an experienced artist is important for the quality of your tattoo.
References: A good tattoo artist should be recommended by previous clients. By reading references on the tattoo studio’s website or social media accounts, or by talking to previous customers, you can get an idea about the artist’s work quality.
Hygiene: The tattoo studio should maintain a hygienic environment, which is crucial for a healthy tattooing process. The tattoo artist should use sterile work areas, disposable needles, and materials. Minimizing the risk of cross-contamination is essential.
Communication: It is important to have open and clear communication with your tattoo artist. You should have a clear understanding of the size, style, placement, and other specifications of your tattoo. Additionally, you should establish a clear agreement regarding the cost of the tattoo, what to expect during the process, and the aftercare process.
Style: The tattoo artist should have a unique style that aligns with the tattoo style you desire. By examining the artist’s previous tattoos and their portfolio, you can gain an understanding of their style and quality.
During this process, it is crucial to prioritize not only the price but also the entire experience, approaching it with a well-informed understanding of tattoos.
Amateur non-licensed “scratchers” pose an increased risk of infection by utilizing non-sterile equipment, can result in permanent skin damage due to incorrect techniques, and produce low-quality tattoos. Therefore, it is crucial to prioritize your health by selecting a professional tattoo artist.
Before Getting a Tattoo
If you have decided to get a tattoo, an important part of that decision is what you should do the day before the tattoo appointment. By following these steps, you can enhance the longevity of your tattoo.
Things to do one day before getting a tattoo:
Avoid alcohol and medication: Alcohol and certain medications can thin the blood, leading to excessive bleeding during the tattooing process. Therefore, refrain from consuming alcohol the day before your tattoo appointment and avoid taking painkillers or any medication that may thin your blood.
Get a good night’s sleep: Getting a tattoo is a lengthy process and can be physically taxing. Prioritize getting a good night’s sleep before the day of your tattoo appointment to ensure your body is well-rested and prepared.
Stay hydrated: Your body loses fluids during the tattooing process. Therefore, drink plenty of water the day before your appointment to hydrate your body.
Moisturize your skin: It is important for the area where the tattoo will be done to be moisturized, as it affects the longevity and appearance of the tattoo. Use a suitable cream to moisturize your skin the day before your appointment.
Protect yourself from sunlight: Shield the area where the tattoo will be done from direct sunlight. Sunburn can affect the healing process of the tattoo and diminish its longevity. Depending on the severity of your sunburn, we may decide not to proceed with the tattoo.
Eat a meal: To ensure your body has sufficient energy during the tattooing process, it is recommended to have a nourishing meal on the day of your appointment. In rare instances, if you arrive at your appointment on an empty stomach, a significant decrease in blood sugar levels can lead to experiences such as fainting or dizziness.
Reduce stress: Getting a tattoo can be a stressful experience. Engage in activities to reduce stress the day before your tattoo appointment.

Tattoo Aftercare
Getting a tattoo can be an enjoyable and artistic journey, but it’s important to take good care of it to keep it healthy and beautiful. Proper tattoo care is essential for the healing process, reducing the risk of infection, and maintaining the long-term vibrancy of your tattoo.
During the first 3 days, the tattooed area should not be exposed to water or direct contact. The tattooed area is an open wound and carries the risk of infection. Therefore, it should be kept clean and dry and protected with a sterile bandage when necessary. Additionally, avoid activities such as exercise, swimming, or sauna during this time.
After the critical 3-day period, clean the tattooed area regularly. Wash your skin at least twice a day using water and a fragrance-free soap. After washing, gently pat the area dry with a paper towel.
Your skin will become sensitive after the tattooing process. Use the cream or coconut oil provided by our studio to moisturize your skin and expedite the healing process.
Avoid rubbing or applying pressure to the tattooed area. This can irritate your skin and slow down the healing process. Also, protect your skin from direct sunlight.
For the first few weeks, it’s best to avoid swimming in the sea or pool. Ignoring this advice could put you at risk of serious infections.
The outer layer of your skin, usually takes around two weeks to heal. During this period, it’s important to avoid irritating your skin and provide proper care. It’s best to let the scabs naturally fall off, so refrain from scratching your tattoo with your nails or picking at the scabs.
Once your tattoo has fully healed, particularly for colored tattoos, it’s important to develop a habit of using sunscreen with at least SPF 30, staying hydrated by drinking plenty of water, and distancing yourself from harmful habits like smoking. These practices are the best care you can provide to your skin.
Proper care is essential to keep your tattoo healthy and beautiful. By following the simple steps mentioned above, you can provide the necessary care for your tattoo. If you have any concerns or questions, please feel free to reach out to us.
